Writing Fiction and Publishing

Books3.PNG

In the 2000s, I wrote many short horror stories for two print anthologies and online. Towards the end of the decade, the owner of The House of Pain e-zine suffered health issues and closed down the site where many of many of my short stories lived.

In effort to keep my stories in circulation, I self-published, Acetone Enema: A Morbid Collection of Short Stories & Poetry in 2012. For the first time, I made hundreds of dollars. It was almost nothing in the scheme of things, but it was meaningful to me. Before then, I had been shopping stories around in the hope of making $20-$30 and a contributor’s copy, if I was lucky. I tried to build on that. In 2014, I self-published The Torture of Girth, a sci-fi/horror novel that I had been writing for nearly a decade. It did almost as well as the short story collection. I wrote Invisible Children’s Book Instruction Manual later that year. That one was well-received but never sold.

The world "outside" has made up its mind about the inhabitants of Springwood...

AND IT'S TIME TO CUT THE FAT.

Harry Gorman is fast finding out that his life within the gated city of Springwood is not as purposeless as it seems. His unfaithful, overweight wife and mean-spirited boss are about to discover that their clandestine relationship has a non-negotiable expiration date. A great evil is afoot; and the universe has big plans for Harry, guiding him through a newly bizarre and unfamiliar world to commit unspeakable crimes. Will he serve his purpose? The future of humanity hangs in the balance.

Tillemans' debut novel has been called "disturbing," "gross," "strange," "gory," "perversely funny," "shocking," and "hard to put down."

What makes a headless woman a hot date? Are babies born demons or is "Baby Face" a crazed monster hunting them? Where did the teeth between Audrey's legs come from? What is one to do with a hungry mound of earth in one's backyard besides give it what it wants?

You'll find the answers to these questions and more in this unhinged collection of cruel and unusual stories to screw with your head.

Invisible Children.jpg

Does it feel like you're stuck in a rut with the bedtime books you read your child at bedtime? Would you like to try something different but your child insists that you read the same old picture children's books night after night? It's time you tried something radically different. Pick up the Invisible Children's Book Instruction Manual and engage your child's imagination in a new way. Prepare your child for a different kind of reading experience.

Your child will become an active participant in storytelling; and he or she will gain a new appreciation for literature. You will train your child to picture the stories you tell in his or her mind and open your child up to the classic chapter books you've been dying to read to him or her.

In this concise, no-nonsense introduction to invisible children's books, Nicholas Alan Tillemans walks the reader through all aspects of invisible book ownership, reading and care.
