Camper Build 2017-2018

I started drawing up designs on graph paper in spring 2017 and started building the back end of the camper in my basement in fall 2017. I purchased a flatbed trailer to put it on in spring 2018 and completed the build in our garage for our first camping trip in it July 2018. A writer for Cool Tears magazine asked me if I would answer interview questions and provide pictures for an article that appeared in the September 2018 edition of the magazine.

Since I built the camper in our garage, I was unable to stand back and look at it. This was the first time I was able to see the camper with the back raised up and take it all in. This is the first photo I took of the camper deployed in a campsite.

Here it is ready for travel. It's aerodynamic. So, we get good gas mileage while towing

It all started with a sketch similar to this. This was the one I settled on after sketching out the floor plan and determining head clearances that would make it feel spacious and functional when deployed. I have included some build photos below and an early picture of the interior finishes. There is also a picture with the rear tarp and netting deployed. We usually put up the tarp but only put up the netting if the bugs are bad.  I have also posted a link to the Cool Tears September 2018 edition.
